The financial year 2002 saw the culmination of the Investment Plan of the Pilotage Association of the Port of Bilbao: apart from the new vessels, a new Pilot office block was also opened, as well as a new Computer Management System. The transfer to the new offices took place gradually during the summer of 2002, and they were in full operation in the month of September, 2002.

The offices were fitted out in premises
covering a surface of over 200 m² in the town of Portugalete, where we centralised the offices for
Pilot Service Management,
Administration,
Quality and the
Office of the Pilot Master. These are modern offices aimed at maintaining and improving the Pilot Service in the Port of Bilbao, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, provided with updated computer technology. New technologies that, in turn, imply a commitment for improvement, the development of a Computerised Management System to control Port Traffic in real time, in order to achieve a higher level of Service quality and safety. |

As we are aware of the importance of communications
between the different elements that take part in port operations, we have developed the so-called Private Area, a fast and efficient tool to exchange information with other port agents. Everything is performed in permanent contact with other installations of the Pilotage Association: the Traffic Control office in the Santurce Tower, the quay office and the Pilot boats. |
